EP conveyor belt longitudinal wave phenomenon and solution

EP conveyor belts always produce longitudinal waves during the production of vulcanization, which will affect their normal use and work efficiency. If it is serious, it will lead to a decrease in the service life of EP conveyor belts. So how to avoid the generation of longitudinal waves during the vulcanization of nylon conveyor belts? Below the conveyor belt manufacturers take everyone to understand in detail.

The EP conveyor belt is made of multi-layer polyester(EP) fabric with high temperature resistant or fire resistant rubber. It is bonded together by high-temperature vulcanization. It is suitable for conveying hot coke, cement, slag and hot castings below 175℃! It is mainly used in metallurgy, construction and other industries to transport high-temperature materials such as sinter, coke, and cement clinker. The temperature of the material does not exceed 800℃, and the surface temperature does not exceed 220℃.

1.Reasons for longitudinal waves

Under the action of the pressure of the vulcanized flat plate, the EP fabric is easy to expand in the direction of the weft. Due to the action of the iron in the vulcanization of the nylon conveyor belt, there is no way to widen the fabric in the direction of the vulcanized weft, so the EP fabric is flexed in the conveyor belt to form a longitudinal extension. The groove is also the longitudinal wave. In addition, in the production process, the processing technology will also produce longitudinal waves.

2. Solution:

(1) The width of the EP conveyor belt during production should be less than the width of the finished product, and the width should be kept at about 99% of the width of the finished product;

(2) The width of the mold should be appropriately widened when curing, such as a EP conveyor belt with a curing width of 1000mm The width of the mold can be appropriately reduced to the original 1010 ± 5mm;

(3) The pressure during vulcanization should be appropriately increased, which generally increases by about 2.5-3Mpa;

(4) The stretching during the vulcanization of the raw belt should not be too large, with 1%- 2% is appropriate, depending on the heat shrinkage of the fabric;

(5) Appropriately increase the thickness of the nylon fabric and EP fabric. As a heat-resistant conveyor belt, the thickness of the skim rubber is slightly thicker than that of ordinary conveyor belts. This can not only prevent appearance quality defects, but also increase the adhesion between layers. Especially in EP fabric belts running at high temperatures, EP fabric If the thickness of the skim rubber is not enough, the skim rubber and fabric or fabric – fabric are likely to be delaminated during operation. Nylon and EP fabrics, however, rarely occur due to their low hardness and softness.

The above is the reason and solution for the longitudinal wave of the EP conveyor belt during the vulcanization process.
