Quando a superf\u00edcie da correia transportadora de borracha est\u00e1 em contacto com v\u00e1rios \u00f3leos (incluindo \u00f3leos, graxas, gorduras vegetais e animais) dentro de uma determinada gama de temperaturas durante um longo per\u00edodo, o \u00f3leo pode penetrar na borracha, causando aumento de volume e incha\u00e7o. Simultaneamente, o meio oleoso pode reagir com os agentes de composi\u00e7\u00e3o sol\u00faveis (principalmente plastificantes de baixo peso molecular) na correia transportadora, resultando numa redu\u00e7\u00e3o de volume (contra\u00e7\u00e3o). Estes dois processos constituem um equil\u00edbrio din\u00e2mico. Normalmente, o grau de incha\u00e7o ou contra\u00e7\u00e3o aumenta com o tempo de contacto entre a superf\u00edcie da correia transportadora de borracha e o \u00f3leo, at\u00e9 que a altera\u00e7\u00e3o de volume atinja o equil\u00edbrio. Quanto mais alta a temperatura, menor o tempo necess\u00e1rio para atingir o equil\u00edbrio de volume. Al\u00e9m disso, alguns aditivos nos produtos petrol\u00edferos podem reagir quimicamente com as mol\u00e9culas de borracha, causando reticula\u00e7\u00e3o ou degrada\u00e7\u00e3o da borracha.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">O NBR \u00e9 uma borracha resistente a \u00f3leos comumente utilizada, e a sua resist\u00eancia a \u00f3leos aumenta com o aumento do teor de acrilonitrila. O NBR com alto teor de acrilonitrila tem melhor resist\u00eancia a \u00f3leos minerais, mas a sua resist\u00eancia ao calor \u00e9 limitada.
